Even if you don't enjoy some of the books, the objective of this sampler series is to allow the reader to expose themselves to multiple dystopian books to find ones they might like.Divergent is fantastic. I bought the full book and the sequel after reading the sample.
I could tell Delirium wasn't for me after reading the summary. Love is a disease the government cured. Sounds like it will be a teeny bopper love story. No thanks.
I read the first five-ten pages of Shatter Me and had to skip the rest of it. I couldn't stand the ridiculous descriptions the author used for the simplest things. I found myself skipping sentences and halves of paragraphs because she would drone on about things bursting into a million pieces bouncing around the room, blah blah blah. Not my kind of writing.
I read the entire sample of Eve and it was pretty interesting. If I'd had the entire book I would have kept reading the entire thing. But, I wasn't immediately hooked, nor do I think I'll buy the book.
I haven't tried the rest.

I only enjoyed a few of the samples that were in this "book". However, on the brighter side of things it gives you a brief look into books you might or might not like so it actually helps you figure out where better to put your next buck into.
Much like taking home a puppy from the shelter, I found myself adopting many of the titles in this book. I especially enjoyed the Divergent and the Delerium series. I'm getting to the others as time allows though I took a break from these series to go read The Giver series.
Not full stories. Very disappointed. I thought it was short stories, not just a taste and then if you want more you have to buy the books. I know it says 'sampler', but it was such a let down.
Not finished reading sampler yet, so can't tell you if all stories are good. However, I can say this is a great way to decide if you want to purchase a book or skip it. There are books in the sampler I've never heard of that might be good reads. Would have never known to pick them up without the sampler. Keep the samplers coming so we can keep reading and recommending.
This sampler is awesome. They picked the best books to include in the sample, too. I have purchased and read five of the books already and the sequels to two of the books Divergent and Gone. Divergent is currently being made into a movie and it was by far my favorite. The voices in each book rings true. I don't read a lot of YA with male lead characters but Variants was great! This sampler is worth purchasing if you simply can't commit to purchasing the book out right but each book in this sampler is worth buying and reading.
Great reading material on my plane ride today! I know this said it was for teens, but as an older person, I did enjoy most of these chapters...and definitely will have to read the conclusions. I was always a big fan of Oryx and Crake, The Wanting Seed, Vinge's The Snow Queen, and many others--almost all of these stories held me attention in some manner. Not all of the stories may be for everyone, but they all raised my curiosity a bit. (Or maybe I was just getting tired of Charles Dickens!)
This sampler introduces the reader to a number of authors. My kids, who love dystopian literature, were eager to get an idea of which of the books would be worth purchasing. For the record, their first choice was Divergent by Veronica Roth but they were sufficiently impressed by what they read to put the other books on their 'to buy' list once they are done with their current backlog. If you want a good idea about what is available it will do you no harm to download this free sampler.
